Description

The International School of Kenya (ISK) is a private, nonprofit coeducational day school that offers a prekindergarten to grade 12 educational program and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program to students of all nationalities. The institution was formed in 1976 by the U.S. and Canadian governments. The school year is divided into two semesters, one lasting from early August to December and the other from January to early June.

Unique Features

Facilities include an arts centre, a 547-seat theatre, an amphitheatre, a 400-metre track with grandstands, a library and media centre, design and fabrication technology labs, a gymnasium, science laboratories, a cafeteria, a solar-heated swimming pool, five tennis courts, two large playing fields, a multi-sports court, and state-of-the-art classrooms. All set on a sprawling 40-acre campus. ISK's co-curricular programme operates in three main strands ; academic, creative, and physical, social and emotional wellness with students participating in activities centred around creativity, culture, leadership, and sport throughout the year. Unique programmes include a student-led service learning arts programme for local Kenyan children, and a Greenhouse Club focused on sustainable gardening using a biogas digester, drip irrigation and grow beds.
