These are activities of everyday lifeskills. The child observes the activities and gains knowledge through real-life experiences. These help to bridge the gap between home and school. The indirect aim of these activities is to develop a sense of order coordination, independence and concentration.
This area of learning aims to develop, broden and refine the child's senses; seeing, hearing, touching, tasting and smelling.
Is introduced phonetically in a Montessori classroom. Initial alphabet sounds are first introduced through sandpaper letters and matching objects.
We used hands-on material to provide the child with a simple and clear understanding of mathematical concepts, such as sandpaper numerals, numbers rods and counters.
