We are Value based Educational Institutions that uphold Character and Spiritual formation. Our doors are open for learners from other Faiths traditions. The Thomas Burke Schools incorporate the Kindergarten, Primary and Junior Secondary schools. The Schools are run by the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Parish located in Buru-Buru Phase III.
In 1980, Fr. Robert Vujus, an American Maryknoll priest saw the need of starting a Catholic Kindergarten at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The kindergarten section opened its doors with 20 learners. It is during the tenure of Fr. Thomas Burke, as parish priest, that he conceived and actualized the being of Buru-Buru Institute of Fine Arts (BIFA).
The Pioneer standard one class of 25 learners commenced learning in the year 2001, under the stewardship of Fr. John Muhindi, with the support of the Parish Council in the Kindergarten building. The construction of the first phase of the primary school commenced in the year 2002 and was officially opened on 11th May 2002. It is due to Fr. Thomas Burke’s love and emphasis for Education and his great contribution to the growth of the Educational Institutions (Kindergarten and BIFA) that it was deemed fit to name the primary school after him.
Over the years, the School population gradually grew and hence the need to expand the institution arose. Thus, the second phase was constructed in 2004 – 2005 and was officially opened on 15th May 2005, under the directorship of Rev. Fr. Patrick Njung’e. Upon its completion, the school population steadily grew to become a double stream class. Consequently, due to the demand for Catholic Education, there was need for further expansion hence the construction of the third phase in the year 2014. In 2015, under the directorship of Fr. Moses Kago, a third stream began operation.
