Fake Grade 10 Designs Circulating: KICD Issues Public Warning

  • Posted by: Goshule

With the rollout of Grade 10 under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) program just around the corner, demand for study materials is surging and dishonest actors are capitalizing on the urgency. The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) has issued a sharp warning against the circulation of counterfeit Grade 10 “curriculum designs” being peddled to parents, schools, and teachers.

According to KICD’s statement, the fake materials often mimic the look of genuine publications complete with the KICD logo and familiar layout in an attempt to appear legitimate. But the truth is simple: KICD has not released any official Grade 10 curriculum designs for sale.

These bogus materials are not just misleading they’re illegal. Distributing or using them violates the law (KICD Act No. 4 of 2013), and individuals found distributing or using these fake documents risk prosecution.

KICD emphasizes that the only legitimate source of its curriculum designs and approved learning materials is the official KICD Bookshop at the Institute’s Nairobi headquarters any other seller is unauthorized.

This warning comes as schools prepare for the January 2026 transition of Grade 9 learners into Grade 10. The heightened demand for preparation materials has created fertile ground for fraudsters seeking quick profit.

For parents, guardians, and school administrators browsing through platforms like GoShule to find schools or curriculum information: be extra vigilant. Before purchasing any materials, ensure the source is legitimate. Confirm with KICD directly or use official channels before acting.
