What Is GoShule? Your Honest Guide to International Schools in Kenya
- Posted by: GoShule
Choosing a school for your child is one of the biggest decisions you'll make as a parent. In Kenya, it can also be one of the most confusing. There are British, American, IB, French and blended curriculum options. Fees vary widely and often come with extra charges you only discover later. Plus much of the information out there comes from the schools themselves.
GoShule was built to make that process clearer.
Where it all started
GoShule began with a simple, personal experience: helping a friend find a school when there just wasn't enough time to do it properly. It was clear then how much families needed one place to go for honest, practical school information, from someone who had actually been through the gates.
Today, GoShule is an independent international school advisory and discovery platform based in Nairobi, helping families find schools that genuinely fit their child.
What you can do on GoShule
- Explore the school directory. Browse schools by level, from kindergarten and primary through to secondary, and by curriculum, including the IB programmes. You can also browse by county, including Nairobi, Kiambu, Kajiado, Machakos, Nakuru and Mombasa.
- Read real parent reviews. Parents share first-hand experiences of the schools their children attend. To keep reviews genuine, full review access is unlocked once you've contributed an approved review of your own. It's a community that gives as much as it takes.
- Get a personalised advisory report. If you want tailored support, we research and compare schools against your family's priorities, including curriculum, location, budget and boarding needs, and present the options side by side, fees included.
- Read our school visit reviews. We visit schools in person and write about what we actually see, from the facilities to how safety is handled and how new pupils are supported.
- Stay informed. Our monthly newsletter brings school insights, practical guides and education opportunities straight to your inbox.
How we help you decide
Our advisory process follows four simple steps:
- Understand. We start with your child and your family: what matters most, what you can afford and what the future might look like.
- Research. We gather and verify information on the schools that could work, including fees and the extra costs that often get left out.
- Narrow. We help you cut a long list down to a realistic shortlist.
- Recommend. We give you a clear, honest recommendation so you can take the next step with confidence.
Why independence matters to us
Editorial independence is non-negotiable at GoShule. Schools cannot edit, remove or influence parent reviews or our school visit write-ups. We also work with schools on visibility and partnerships, but that work is kept completely separate from the honest guidance we give parents. Our loyalty is to families first.
We're also upfront about what we don't know. School fees change, policies change, and we always encourage parents to confirm the latest details directly with a school before making a final decision.
Who GoShule is for
- Families relocating to Kenya who need to understand the international school landscape quickly
- Parents moving from the Kenyan system to an international curriculum
- Families comparing day and boarding options across Nairobi and beyond
- Any parent who wants an honest second opinion before committing to a school
